About Me

Oliver Walker-Peel is a football and Australian rules football commentator, sports journalist, and student.

Born in Manchester, Oliver moved to Australia in 2013. Starting his football commentary career in 2019 with local club Mornington Soccer Club, he graduated to NPL commentary in 2021 with NPL Victoria, at the age of just 17. Oliver has covered over 70 games of football in a play-by-role, across the top three NPL Victoria divisions in men's football, as well as NPLW Victoria and the State Leagues, a number that will continue to increase.

During the Women's World Cup in 2023, Oliver worked as an Audio Description Commentator to help enhace the tournament experience for people with blindness and people with a visual impairment, including Sweden's historic win over the United States of America, and England's 6-1 win over China. In November 2023, OIiver worked for SBS in covering the IFCPF Asia-Oceania Championships, commentating every game for SBS On Demand,

Alongside this, Oliver also works as an Australian rules football commentator at VFL level. He covered Frankston Dolphins matches in 2021, in what was his first year commentating the sport. Oliver's commentary has appeared on the likes of the AFL's official social media pages, whilst Melbourne radio station SEN has also shared his work behind the microphone across their social media platforms. Alongside this, Oliver has called at AFLW and VFL level for Casey Radio, a community radio based in Casey, and WARF Radio.

Oliver also works in sports journalism, having contributed for online publication Kick360. Joining Kick360 in November 2021, he has covered both A-League Men's and FFA Cup matches. Commencing work for The Inner Sanctum in January 2022, he covered the FFA Cup Final and the Women's Ashes while working for the site.

Oliver is currently studying for a Bachelor of Journalism at RMIT University, and was recently awarded the Mornington Peninsula Shire's Young Citizen of the Year for 2022.
